Life Happens

This morning I pulled the 2 of Pentacles. Twos, for me are cards of choices. This two is also a card about balance. Life happens and sometimes we have to juggle things and sometimes make difficult decisions and sometimes it all is difficult and sometimes it’s overwhelming. So today I am invoking The Lovers, also a card of choice. I am not just suggesting finding solace in a love I am also suggesting leaning on your primary partner yourself. Today I pulled The Queen of Swords. This queen tells it like it is and she values honesty and is a quick thinker. She is called the mask cutter and makes quick judgments and sees in black and white. She’s not patient or afraid to use her sword to sever ties. When she’s done she’s done. She's a great person to have as an ally but you don’t want her to be an enemy. I am invoking Justice. This is a karmic and social sense of justice to me, to guide the queen’s energy for today.

Balancing it all

This morning I pulled the Knight of Swords. Swords is the suit of air, logic and communications. This Knight is a fighter who’ll do what it takes to be heard. She sometimes can take bold action without considering all the consequences. I am invoking The Chariot. This is also a card of action but the charioteer is tasked with finding balance of mind, spirit and body and keeping all that in balance as the chariot moves forward, tempering the chaotic nature of the knight.

There are so many ways to read the tarot. Which way is right? Every reader gets to decide every time they pull a card. This morning I pulled the Four of Wands. Wands (for me) are about fire, that means passion and communications. The 4 of Wands is about celebrating achievements (ritual) and expansion and/or escalation. I am invoking The Lovers. This is a card of connection and choice. To me this is not just sexual relationships. Lovers to me include not just people we have sex with. Indeed for me this includes all the folks we love and are in relationship with and also includes our relationship with ourselves. I believe we are our own primary partners.

What is Justice?

This morning I pulled Justice. Looking at this card I used to think of Couples Therapy, it could also be mediation. Just what is Justice anyway? To me it’s more than sometimes oppressive legal constructs that are often unjust. When I think of Justice I think of karmic and social justice. In response I am invoking the 7 of Wands. To me this is a card for standing up for karmic and social justice and for all the ways people show up in the world, especially our own way.

The 2 of Wands opens a portal, a new path? Do we take it? This day, yes. I joined a yoga studio. The sweet woman who signed me up was a lovely woman named Jane. Jane, with the striking blue eyes. My teacher was a woman named Jill. Today's teacher is a woman named Jenn. All these "J" women. I invoked The Fool. Fitting for me, a new journey begins.

Not an easy card to pull

The Tower is not an easy card to pull, but I did this morning.

The Tower often indicates destruction and chaos and can bring life changing epiphanies. But, it sometimes is necessary. The Tower comes before The Star, which indicates rebuilding. Coming together with my siblings and reflecting on our childhoods with a physically and verbally abusive father and a clinically depressed mother has been eye opening. Especially looking at the effects that’s had on our adult lives. I am invoking the Six of Cups, a card of nostalgia, good and bad, that can aid or hurt us as we look back and look forward. How can I trust my own sense of what love is?
